BVYA 2011 Softball Fall League
All Divisions
General Rules
- Absolutely NO hitting fences with anything, No soft toss drills into fence
- No Swinging Bats allowed outside the playing field unless at hitting station with supervision
- Home Team will Line the field before each game and provide TEE in Shetland 6U.
- Home Team will keep Score
- Both Teams will provide a Game ball at the Pre-game Plate meeting with umpires.
Equipment
- All Equipment used will be legal under 2011 PONY Rules& Guidelines.
- NO METAL CLEATS will be allowed.
Playing Rules
- All Rules not listed here in will be as per the 2011 PONY Softball Rules and Guidelines
- Game can end in a tie.
- Game will revert back to last complete inning to determine outcome of contest when time has expired and the batter completed her at bat and the umpire has declared “Ball Game”.
- Playing with eight players: Teams are allowed to start and play a game with (8) eight players and will avoid a forfeit. If a team fails to field (8) eight players or falls below (8) eight players then the game will be declared a forfeit.
Pitching Rules
- As Per the 2011 PONY Rule Book
Length of Game
- No new inning will be started after 55 minutes and the inning in Progress will complete the Batter in Slow pitch.
- No new inning will be started after 75 minutes and the inning in Progress will complete the Batter in Fast Pitch.
- Tie ball games will not continue past 6 innings or Time Limit.
- Games will not be declared over until the 6 /7 innings per division rules or Time Limit whichever comes first.
Schedule
- Each Team will be scheduled to play 3 games each Tournament weekend by the BVYA scheduler
- All games will be played on Saturday, Friday night(if necessary), and Sunday (if necessary)
- Each Team will confirm enrollment into the tournament by email to the scheduler no later than Monday at 7PM for the next scheduled weekend tournament.
- All BVYA Fields are scheduled by BVYA Commissioners (No First come… First serve)
Scorekeepers and Score boards
- Home Team will provide a Parent for the Official Scorebook…
- Host Field will have the option of having scoreboards available.

Managers and Coaches
- Teams will be allowed the number of coaches as per the 2011 PONY Rules and Guidelines
- 2 Defensive Coaches are allowed on the field, must remain in Foul Territory at least 15 feet behind 1st and 3rd base respectively.
- Teams are not required to have coaches in uniform.(Clothing must be appropriate length and must not be vulgar or inappropriate for children… i.e.…advertisements of certain products) Umpires and/or Host Representative will have final ruling on whether or not clothing is acceptable.
Penalties
- Grace Period to Field (8) eight players will be 10 minutes and will apply to the first game schedule at that park for that day only. The game clock will start on time and ten-minute grace period will be deducted from game clock. All other games are game time decision.
- Players will be given one warning by the umpire prior to ejection from the game for intentionally removing headgear prior to entering dugouts.
General Conduct & BVYA Code of Conduct
- All Managers will be required to sign the BVYA Coaches Code of Conduct at Registration of Team and will be subject to its enforcement/penalties.
- If a Coach is ejected from a Game: one game Suspension will be enforced the next scheduled game.
- If a Coach is ejected a second time: 2 two game Suspension will be enforced the next 2 scheduled games.
- If a Coach is ejected a third time: Suspension for remainder of season and Coach will have to meet with BVYA Executive Board of Directors prior to returning to any BVYA Sport and be a involved as a coach or manager.
Registered Players, Player Pools, adding Players to a Team and Waiting list
- Each Team Manager is solely responsible to ensure all the players listed for each game are properly registered with the BVYA League.
- Under no Circumstances can a player be added to a roster without administrative approval if and only if the roster of the registered team has dropped below the minimum (8) players to play a game will adding of players be considered by the BVYA Softball Commissioner.
- All Managers must have team registration forms with them at all times to prove eligibility of all players involved in a contest.
- A Player pool may be created by BVYA Softball Commissioner if temporary help is needed to ensure a team has the required number of players to play a game. It will be the Manager of the team that needs players to select the pool players needed.
- All Pool players must come from 1st year players in the division. They are not eligible to Pitch or Catch during the game in which they are the selected pool player.
- There will not be a waiting list for players due to Team registration only being allowed.
Penalty for Eligibility Infractions
Any Team or individual found guilty of violating any of the eligibility rules shall:
- Receive 1 Loss /Forfeit Game
- Manager will be suspended for the remainder of the scheduled games for the current season
- BVYA will review the player eligibility for any future games
Standings
- Standings and Scores will not be maintained by the BVYA.

Managers and Coaching Applications
- Each Manager must be 18 years of age or older. Assistant Coaches must be at least 15 years of age or older.
- Each member of the coaching staff must register with the league prior to first game and is required to be certified by KSN or similar documented organization as well as a background check.
- Managers of the Teams will select their own Coaching Staff. Each Selected Coach including manager will be required to complete and sign the Coaches Application Form and will agree to a background check.
Field Maintenance
- City of Schertz Contract requires that BVYA maintain the fields. You are BVYA…
- Fields are maintained by the BVYA Coaches, Teams, and Parents year round…
- Repairs are handled by BVYA … We tear it up….We fix it.
Concession Stand
- The League Reserves to Right to NOT have Concession Stand Open during Tournaments
