Code of Conduct

Adopted Board of Directors 2001

It is the goal of BVYA to provide a safe and enjoyable venue for the children of our community to play ball, learn skills and good sportsmanship.  Understanding that all sports are competitive, BVYA is fully committed to providing this venue for our kids.  The following guidelines are in support of this goal.  We encourage all individuals at BVYA to adhere to these guidelines so that disciplinary action is not required.

Verbal Warning

May be issued by Commissioner or any Board Member to any participant who:

Ø  Exhibits un-sportsmanlike behavior or

Ø  Uses or takes tobacco products onto the field of play during a game or organized practice or

Ø  Smokes on SCUCISD property (Violation of a STATE LAW), or

Ø  Uses vulgar or foul language in the presence of players or spectators or

Ø  Verbally abuses any participant at a BVYA function or

Ø  Intentionally and knowingly violates any BVYA Sport Activity rule

Written Warning

May be issued by the Commissioner or President of the League to any participant who:

Ø  After a verbal warning has been issued and a second violation has occurred.  This warning will be kept on file for one (1) year from date of incident

Suspension for Balance of Season

May be issued by the Commissioner or President of the League to any participant in writing who:

Ø  Is under the influence or has in their possession any alcoholic beverages at any BVYA function to include games, practices, tournaments, meetings and other post season tournament where BVYA is being represented or

Ø  Threatens any other manager, coach, player, parent, game official or spectator with physical violence or

Ø  Is proven to have intentionally and knowingly endangered a player’s safety during a game or practice or

Ø  Has been given a verbal and a written warning and now has accumulated a third violation of any kind

Ø  Note;  Suspensions may be appealed to the Board of Directors

Barred

Penalty:  Two Years Suspension from All League Activities

Requires a hearing before the Board of Directors before the penalty is imposed.  This action will be enforced and kept on file for a minimum of two (2) years.  At which time, and only then, a special hearing will be required before the Board of Directors to rescind the ban if requested by the violator.

Any participant who:

Ø  Is involved in a physical fight at any BVYA function

Ø  Brings any type of a firearm to any BVYA function.  This excludes any individual(s) licensed to carry a weapon in the performance of their employment while acting in the capacity of the law.

Ø  Who is proved to have intentionally damaged, stolen or destroyed any BVYA, City of Schertz, SCUCISD or BVYA sponsor’s property

Ø  Who is proven to have in their possession or is proven to be under the influence of any illegal drugs at any BVYA function
