Buffalo Valley Youth Association is the premier youth sport organization servicing Schertz and the surrounding area of northeast San Antonio. As an organization, we are committed to providing the best in recreational sports opportunities for the children in our area.
The Beginning, 1974: During the initial founding of Buffalo Valley Youth Association, or BVYA, as it is more affectionately known, as a non-profit organization, the board members at that time petitioned the Schertz City Council and requested the use of land located between FM 1518 and Oak Street, Aero Street and Ira street, better knows as H.P. Thulemeyer Park, on a permanent arrangement. The City of Schertz recognized BVYA as a proper entity and the most appropriate association to provide organized recreational services in the City of Schertz, as well as an organization that the City and its inhabitants would greatly benefit from. BVYA was granted the right to provide and conduct organized youth recreational activites in and for the City of Schertz, for the benefit and betterment of the youth of Schertz and the surrounding areas. From that point on, BVYA and it's strong base of volunteer parents have continued to conduct and maintain a solid recreational program for the youth of our local communities. Over the years, there have been many improvements and sports divisions added to enhance the organization as the City of Schertz grows, which has enabled BVYA to stand the test of time. Many of our current parents, and even some grandparents, fondly recall their days playing ball with BVYA as children. Currently BVYA offers youth sports programs in baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, football, cheerleading and competition swim club. We at BVYA appreciate our close relationships with the City of Schertz and the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District, who provide sporting venues for our many programs.
